Hi,
Over the past few weeks, some of you reached out asking why I’d been quiet on Substack — and I just want to say, thank you. It honestly means a lot that you noticed and cared enough to check in.
Truth is, I’ve been doing some deep thinking behind the scenes.
Last week, over a long lunch with a friend, we ended up talking about this newsletter. She gently pointed out that while the content was resonating with women, especially younger women, the name and branding — Muslim Mom’s Corner — might be limiting its reach. And that hit me.
When I first started this Substack, I didn’t have a clear niche in mind. I just knew I wanted to help women. That’s why the early topics were a little scattered — I was still figuring it out. But as I started writing more and more about women’s health, everything began to click. The response I received was overwhelmingly supportive — especially from young women.
I kept getting messages like this one:
“honestly... yeah. mood swings before period are really bad, super bad, even I don’t understand why 😭😭😭 and I’m going through it now”
It was that kind of message — raw, real, and relatable — that showed me I was on the right path. I began researching more, reading everything I could on women’s health, and talking to women about what they were going through. That’s how the Short Dives and Deep Dives were born.
But after that conversation with my friend, and some soul-searching on my own, I realized she was right: the name Muslim Mom’s Corner no longer reflects what this newsletter has become — or where it’s going. Most of you are younger women — some teenagers, others navigating early adulthood or new motherhood — and you’re all looking for something rooted in science, but written with care.
So, starting now, Muslim Mom’s Corner will become:
Salvia: Where Science Meets Serenity in Women’s Health
It’s still me. Still the same heart behind the writing. But this new name captures the vision more clearly — a trusted space for all young girls & women. A place that brings together evidence-based women’s health info with calm, thoughtful guidance you can trust.
I’ll dive into mental, social & physical health, share wellness tools, nourishing recipes, and fresh content on YouTube + TikTok.
I’m so grateful for your continued support, and I hope you’ll stick with me as we move into this new chapter together. There’s a lot more to come.
With gratitude,
Summaya
